Lydia Foot is flying high after completing her Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship with Quest a few years ago.
Lydia was approached by her Head Teacher who suggested this route as part of her ongoing professional development at the infant school, based in Bournemouth, which is part of the Ocean Academy Trust.
Lydia said: “I was thrilled when I was put forward for an Apprenticeship, being able to study a qualification alongside working in a job I love was exactly what I’d hoped for. The support I received from my Apprenticeship-Trainer was invaluable. Once I completed my Level 2 Apprenticeship, I enrolled onto my Foundation Degree in Early Years, and I graduated last year with a distinction! I naturally progressed onto my Early Childhood degree and I graduated this summer with a BA Hons."
Lydia continues: “I am focussed on a career working in childcare & education. The training I received through Quest, gave me the knowledge I needed to succeed and the confidence to pursue my goals.”
Sharon Bland, Lydia's Apprenticeship-Trainer agreed: “I think Lydia’s success is well-deserved. Lydia is very ambitious and has proved that Apprenticeships can also be a stepping stone to a life-long career. Lydia gained a good grounding in the teaching and learning sector whilst she was doing her Apprenticeship, she learnt so much. She then realised during this time that working in Early Years was something she wanted to do long-term and researched her options after completing her Apprenticeship with Quest. I wish her every success in her future career.”
Lydia concludes: “I have so many options having gone down this route, either working as an Early Years Educator or a Social Worker. I received so much support from my Apprenticeship-Trainer when I was an Apprentice with Quest! Without my ATs encouragement, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I'm so grateful!"
